Grab the moment

  • Listening to: Way back into love
  • Watching: just finished watching ‘Saher’

One thing I like about photography is that it drives you to grab and seize moments and chances. Most times, a photographer only have a few seconds to capture a moment. If he misses that few seconds, there’s no way to turn back time. No time for hesitations, for second thoughts. Especially if you are out on the street and something interesting passes you by and you know you just have to take a picture of it. You always have to be prepared for things like that. There is this saying, a photo that you don’t take today, is a photo that you never take. It’s now or never, you know. I think life becomes more interesting if you see it in that same manner, where you have to be aware of what’s going on around you even the things you can’t yet comprehend, always be prepared to grab opportunities and live like there’s no tomorrow.

On a separate note, man….I really want a Holga camera.

Oh another thing, I went back to taking pictures using an slr film camera and I LOVE it. You know what’s sad? When you spend an entire day out taking photos, and you come home you upload the pics from your digital camera and realize most of the pics are blurred and not as sharp. I mean, ofcourse, what do I expect from a 4 megapix digital camera. But this slr film camera, even if it is dirt cheap, it takes better pictures than the more expensive but low megapix digital camera.

I’ve recently joined a dA group called AnalogPhotographers, check it out it’s awesome.

It’s all about temperature

July 2, 2007 · Leave a Comment

I’m sure you are familiar with the term ‘room temperature’ and ‘body temperature’. Recently, I touch my forehead while I’m having fever and compare it to the temperature of my laptop. It’s similar. My forehead is just as hot as my laptop. Hence the term, laptop temperature, or computer temperature. If you say ‘I’m having computer temperature’, what you are really saying is, ‘my body feels hotter than usual’.

If you haven’t noticed already, in this century, it’s all about temperature. Global warming, for instance. A day’s weather could make or brake your day. Extreme weather could kill you, make you sick or damage your property. (Think Asian Tsunami, Katrina, heat wave in India).

What do you think is the most important modern invention?

“Air-conditioner”, said Mr. Lee Kuan Yiew, a former prime minister of Singapore in an interview. In S’pore’s weather conditions, it’s impossible to do anything if you are all sticky and hot. If I ask this question to a person living at the other side of the globe, he might say the heater is the most important modern invention. After all, it’s impossible to do anything if you are freezing like crazy.

Have you ever walked along the street and the weather is sweltering hot, and you enter a fully air-conditioned building and the first thing that hit you is headache because of the sudden temperature change? (That’s how I got my fever by the way).

Remember, be safe and be at the right temperature.
