Most people would agree that good leadership is important. Some may think good leadership is nice to have. But in many cases, good leadership is absolutely, without a doubt, very critical. In a moving and an inspiring speech at TED Talks, Patrick Awuah talked about the need to train good and ethical leaders, especially in a country where only 5% of the population receive post-secondary education. When you have a really small quantity of people with mega huge responsibilities, you just can’t afford them messing up. If this 5% of the people do not deliver, the other 95% will suffer a great deal. How do you make sure that this small group of leaders will perform? You have to train them and you have to train them real good, according to Patrick Awuah. He started a liberal arts college in Ghana to do just that. You can watch or listen to his talk at TED Talks.

How to enjoy your holiday
September 16, 2007 · Leave a Comment
1. Maintain a positive mindset. Tell yourself that it’s going to be a great holiday and you’ll work at it so that it’ll be a great one. Why? Because your time is valuable. You are valuable.
2. Don’t look at it as a ‘holiday’ in the typical sense. Look at it as a time to do whatever it is you’ve always wanted to do and spent your time on things that matter to you.
3. List all the things you want to do. List all the places you want to go. List all the people you’ve been wanting to meet for so long. Is there a dish that you’ve always wanted to try but haven’t? Maybe you remember an interesting acquaintance you met some time back. Holidays are a great time to connect with people. Maybe there’s an interesting project that you’ve been dying to tackle.
4. Scan through your list. There will be some items that stand out from the rest. Identify that and go for it.
5. What not to do: Nothing. Don’t do nothing. Don’t just sit and go through your days doing nothing and expect things to be better. Doing nothing is demoralizing and it won’t just ruin your holiday, it’ll ruin you.
6. The key is to take your own initiatives and listen to yourself what you really want to do and what really matters to you. The TV, the internet or other people cannot decide that for you. You have to take charge. Remember, it’s YOUR holiday, your time and ultimately, your life.
May you leave your holiday a better person, refreshed, inspired and in a positive spirit and mindframe.

Prison Break 3 is COMING

..this Monday, yay! The biggest question mark I have is on Scolfield, man. What has he got himself into now. The guy’s crazy.
September has been sweet so far. Been rolling up my sleeves on some really interesting projects and ofcourse, it’s Ramadhan, how can it not be sweet? I think food actually taste better in Ramadhan. It’s like how plain water taste heavenly to a really thirsty person in the desert. I’ve read this auto-biography of a man (Leopold Weiss) who narrated how he was lost in a vast hot desert for some days and he was deadly thirsty. When he finally got hold of water, he said it was the best tasting water he ever had in his entire life.
My Sundays are mostly spent at the antiques and collectors’ sale, cuz I’m selling there every Sunday of this month. Met some interesting people and I just love the vibe there. I can’t remember how many times I have come home from the place feeling inspired. Sometimes you see things and here things that help unlock your mind. I like looking at these antiques…some of which was made and designed even before my grandma was born and some of the designs look as good and as timeless as ever.
Ramadhan Kareem to all my muslim friends. Have a great day everyone!
