In the film Becoming Jane, there is one scene where Jane’s brother Henry loses money in a bet. It all happened in mere moments, and cousin Elizah said to him, “You spend money like WATER!!!!”
Today, I spend money like water, for a school project’s sake. Man…I hate doing this.

I’m reading this book called Visual Creativity by Mario Pricken. If there’s one design book that I’d really love to have this year, it would be this. Something worth quoting from the book, in an interview with Jennifer Sterling, who had this to say about cookie cutter design approach:
“Too often designers do what I call the ‘Christopher Columbus discovery of America’ approach to design. For instance you wouldn’t walk out to your car and upon finding a stranger sitting in it have them exclaim that they had ‘discovered’ it. Many designers do just that. They discover it on page 183 of Communication Arts magazine.”
Okay, so I get it. Design needs a concept, a meaning. If it only looks good but it’s devoid of meaning, then it’s just decoration. Fluffy stuff. This is what I’m struggling with.
