A really silly poem. When I wrote this, I was thinking of the great time that I had in an amazing amazing resort last month.
I smell vanilla
and I look around the villa
The view is just a killer
I sat down on the sofa
and look across the room
at the wall and sand the same colour
the pool and sea too
why am i here
because the beach calls me
and the pool
but it broke,
I didnt try to fix it
because there is the sea
reliable as always
so I forgot about the pool
though I miss it a lot
how can I not
brings me back to those days
when I didn’t want to get out of the pool
and now I eat fish
and greens when I can
and then back to plastics
back to plastics spastics, stones and masks
and something didn’t feel right
feel right like in that villa
when I first smell the sweet vanilla.

It’s funny how I blog only when I feel compelled to. Like right now, I keep having these scattered thoughts and things that I’m not sure of that are bugging me for the past couple of days. I just have to write it down somewhere. So here goes:
1. I’m kinda tired of great looking designs. For once I want to see something meaningful first, decent looking second. Even if the designs are ugly but meaningful, even better. Maybe I’m just going through a phase, I don’t know. But seriously though, a lot of the designs I’ve been seeing nowadays (including some of mine) are so emotionally flat and plastic. Sure, they are great to look at, but they are just above the surface and they all use the same tricks in the book. We’ve all seen it before. Especially with web site designs, the whole web 2.0 design approach is looking kinda tired to my eyes. I don’t hate them, but it’s just everywhere. So I guess what really pique my interest right now is the ‘why’ of design. Why do we even design a thing in the first place? What’s the significance? What are we really trying to create? Most designers skip this stage and jump right into the visual sides of things. Including yours truly. I hope that will change (for myself at least).
